About Middle Earth loop

Located on Gale Road at Metricup, between Busselton and Cowaramup, Middle Earth is also conveniently close to the Beer Farm, perfect for post ride refreshment!
It’s almost all fun rolling single track. Over its 24 km you’ll find fast and smooth trail, some rocky and technical sections, log obstacles, many berms and some easy jumps.

These trails have been around for ten years, although it has become popular since it was used as the final stage for the Cape to Cape MTB race a few years ago, a tradition which has continued ever since. It was built by local riders Rod Lakelin and Pete Battye and is a bit of a maze all the way through. Rod has used every little bit of land to create as much trail as he could, it’s definitely a technical cross-country style course – intermediate mountain bike riders would love it.  One lap and you’re pretty cooked, unless you’re especially fit.

The Middle Earth course was originally built by Rod Lakelin as a means of connecting with his teenage son, and to provide a healthy distraction for a close friend going through a divorce. Riding this loop is a great way to get out of your head and get your pedal power going.
